I wanted to thank You for your amazing cat-descriptive qualities and sharing them with your readers. I only had to read till the second page of your book 'Under the Paw' and see the following extract:
"No doubt, by the time you’ve read this, another little bundle of narcissistic fur will have wandered in off the street, decided it likes what it sees and parked itself on one of the purpose-made hammocks that hang from the radiators in my house. I will probably even learn to ignore the obscene, snorty, scronking sound it makes while it cleans its bottom. It has happened before, and I’m sure it will happen again.”
and I knew that this is a book written by a true cat person - none other than a cat-o-holic could possibly even know these things, let alone describe the feline state of mind so vibrantly.
Your story also reminded me of my own pre-adult years, when I lived on a farm full of cats and brought back the ache for owning a cat (or rather lots of them), as I've led a catless life ever since I moved out in 2006. You write in a manner that is both funny and very honest (isn’t an easy combination), which I find truly inspiring. (Not to mention that every time I think of the bit you wrote about the “snorty scronking sound”, laughter tickles in my throat.)
In the near future I must purchase 'Talk To The Tail'. It'll probably take a while before arriving here in Finland, but what can I say – it is a must-have.
I'm also planning on becoming a regular follower of your blog (and I don’t read blogs, this is a cold fact.). I've already backtracked it a little and found it truly wonderful. You have the uncanny ability to make me laugh here alone, sitting in front of the computer.
I live for books and text, fact and fiction, studying, reading and writing, so therefore I thank You so much for making my mind shine once more.
My condolences for the loss of Janet. It is not my place to judge, but regardless he seemed to have lived a long, good life. What else can a cat possibly ask for, but a loving home and care You provided for him.
I wish You, the soulful The Bear, Ralph the diva, and the sleek-furred, meeyapping Shipley good times together.
I’ll be reading You,
Laura from Espoo, Finland
P.S. My parents' youngest cat, Nööti, 6 years, sends his love and encourages all cats to ride a rocking horse, when bored.
P.P.S. I apologize for all the grammar mistakes. As a Finn, English is only my second language.
Hi Lara. Thanks so much for your lovely message, and sorry to hear you're currently felineless. Hope you enjoy Talk To Tail just as much. You can also follow me on Twitter if you like (and aren't doing so already):
I've watched this 3 times now, trying to work out whether it's being played backwards and the cat is actually scrabbling to get the mask off. The licking just before the mask goes on looks 'forward' though.. These are the questions that plague me long into the night
Really the funniest thing I have seen for ages, where is that cats pride? Do you think that the cat knows that the ancient Egyptians used to worship cats? Hysterical!

Oh WTF that video is priceless. You can almost hear the cat thinking 'how the hell did I lose that bloody bet.'
Helpless with laughter. It's the way he throws his head back with a Ta-da attitude that gets me.
OH MY GOD. His face! *yes. I have done it. purrrrpurrpurr*
And the fact that he looks so smug about his hat is another thing all together. How do I train my cats that way?
