Britain's First Vegetarian Cat

This story about Dante, who lives just up the road from me, provides more evidence that Shipley's tomato soup fetish and The Bear's broccoli habit are not so odd after all. Hard to read this and stop myself fantasising about the day when all cat food is made out of cauliflower and carrots and I no longer have bits of mechanically recovered meat stuck to my kitchen floor.

Hello Prep Peninsula Study Group. I'm afraid I just deleted your comments by mistake (you'd posted one twice but in trying to delete that I somehow managed to delete all of them). Sorry. Please repost them if you can and I promise not to do it again!

I'm sure this is a bit of levity because, as all cat lovers know, cats are obligate carnivores and cannot remain healthy on a vegetarian diet. If in doubt, ask any veterinarian.

Well, I have no idea about strictly vegetarian felines, but I do know that one of my cats goes completely bonkers for palak paneer - spicy hot indian spinach with bits of cheese - and she leaves the cheese.

So, whatever Mother Nature had originally planned for them - vegetarian cats, why not?
